The Solarstream is exeptionally energy efficient. Families that use more than 300 litres a day (four or more people) will save hundreds of dollars every year compared to conventional gas or electric hot water. And this is an environment freindly design reducing more green house gases than conventional gas or electric solar.

Tests performed on a winter's evening in Melbourne with air temperature of 14 degrees centigrade at the beginning of the test and 11.4 deg C at the end of test, showed that Solarstream heated 340 litres of water from scratch in 3 hours and 10 minutes with a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 3.3. (This is a factor of efficiency greater than a conventional electric water water, which has a COP of around .85). In warm air of 30 degrees centigrade, Solarstream can heat 340 litres of water from scratch in 1.7 hours and achieve an amazing  COP of 5.4.

How does it work: The copper condenser coil is the heat exchanger. It is wrapped under compression around the outside of a marine grade, stainless steel tank, integrating it with the water tank in a design that provides a very large conductive area, making it very efficient. This design also keeps the refrigerant completely seperated from the hot water. In operation, the heat recovery unit of the Solarstream captures solar heat from ambient air and fan forces it through a fin coil, similar to the reverse cycle of an air conditioner. The warm refrigerant is then super heated by compression, pumped through the condenser coil and transferred to the water tank via a very effective,  patented design giving amazing performance. There are no welds or joins in this design between the copper coil and the stainless steel tank so that these different metals are free to expand  and contract differently.

This robust design together with the use of the best materials available will ensure long operational life from your Solarstream. If you use the cheap night rate, you will save even more and you will also save the environment because night time electricity, if not used, is otherwise wasted.

Heat Pump Installation Video

Please use this installation video in conjunction with the Siddons Solarstream Installation and User Manual available for download from this page http://www.siddonssolarstream.com/installation/

Installations requiring extension lines

Standard unit has 2 mtrs of refrigerant line connected to the Heat Pump unit. Considering bends and connections, this allows

the Heat Pump unit and Water Tank to be installed to a distance apart as shown (Drwg A). (This is intended as guide only.)

Many installations will require the Heat Pump outdoor unit and the Water Tank to be positioned further apart than the

standard unit configuration allows. In these installations, an extension line kit needs to be used.

Extension line kit.

1.5 mtr order code 150SSBX

3.0 mtr order code 300SSBX

5.0 mtr order code 500SSBX

7.0 mtr order code 700SSBX

These extension line kits come fully insulated, pre-charged and include the longer thermostat cable e.g. a 300SSBX has a 6 meter thermostat cable to replace the standard 3 mtr Thermostat cable (1 metre longer than the refrigerant lines).
