The Caravel 2.5 (model FD3.5-2.5/12) is a downwind horizontal axis wind turbine, with rated power of 2.5kw. It yaws automatically and alters its rotation speed by changing “cone angle” as its flexible blades bend away from the wind. This eliminates the need for a yaw device or eccentric governor mechanism, it’s a simple mechanism and is very reliable in operation. Its doubly-fed permanent magnet generator has high start torque, high efficiency, simple integral construction with easy processing and maintenance.
The Caravel 2.5 is ideal as a grid-tied power solution for dual power supply. It is suitable too for off-grid power in rural areas, islands, weather stations and microwave communication bases.

During a recent exhibition Pinnacle was especially honored to be visited by Mr. Edward Yau (white shirt), Hong Kong’s Secretary for the Environment. Mr. Yau took a keen interest in the Caravel 2.5 turbine and Pinnacle’s Managing Director, Mr. Thomas Kong, seized the opportunity to explain the Caravel’s unique characteristics.
